    What about doing a smaller version of what the multinationals do; get together with others in the field to pool resources? Find people who are in fiber arts but whose niches is not competing with each other. For example trading videos of other fiber artists,. They appear on your channel. You appear on theirs. You plug their product indirectly by interviewing them and vice versa. Or trade the use of your products with theirs. So for example a fiber artist of handspun whatever uses their yarn to weave one of your patterns, and talks about it. Best of videos are good, maybe in relation to your patterns. Weave small samples of the same pattern with radically different yarns, fine, thick and thin, silk wefts, etc. Talk about the qualities good and bad of using a particular weight yarn with a given pattern. How about getting out into the fiber world? A lot of people don't know about fiber festivals. They are not in the loop to get that info. Me for example, usually by the time I start looking for a festival or workshop, it has been filled months in advance. I can't be the only one. Some can afford to travel, but don't know about these events. Some know, but can't get there due to life circumstances. Footage from a festival is always interesting. Even if you went, you will see something different than someone else. And finally, please don't apologize for needing/wanting to make money. Maybe the days of endless how-to videos on YT are over. Maybe putting your content behind a paywall is necessary. Free education is lovely, but a lot of times people can and will pay. Maybe shift a significant portion of the business away from free content. With the big box stores, you can't win the race for the lowest price. I know you know that. You have a body of work that has been free. That can be your most accessible set of products and start charging for info that gives good value as a package. Just thought of this: Offer, as a paid course, maybe ion Zoom or another platform, intermediate to advanced techniques. People who are really into it, or have wanted to learn, will pay because it's not readily available. Make it something dramatic, not subtle, that photographs well, and makes the viewer go "Oooooh!" Good luck. Not in the business, yet or never, but this is what came to mind.

    This is fantastically helpful for a beginner to weaving. Question about the 8/2 cotton for tea towels, on a floorloom would you weave them as a single strand per heddle or double stranded? All the patterns I've seemed to have found for floor looms is double stranding the 8/2 cotton and I'm a bit confused as to how this would differ from just using a single strand of 8/4 cotton. thanks

    • @KellyCasanova
      @KellyCasanova 2 дня назад

      For a floor loom you just thread one thread for each heddle. Then when it comes to sleying the reed you can place as many threads in the reed as you need to obtain your chosen epi.

    Kelly I just watched your "slow" video, and I think your approach to teaching is just perfect. You are clear, concise and a born teacher. Don't change a thing about your videos & never ever listen to negative people who just have to make everyone around them unhappy just because they're unhappy with themselves! You have taught & inspired so many.....I hope you never stop.

    Is the craft paper you use 30 lb or 50 lb?

    • @KellyCasanova
      @KellyCasanova 7 дней назад

      I don't know about poundage as most things are measured in grams and kilograms here. The paper weight I use is 125gsm, if that helps!

    • @HelenMesserly
      @HelenMesserly 7 дней назад

      @@KellyCasanova Well, 125 grams is only a bit over a quarter of a pound, so I think they must use a different way of measuring. I guess I can just order one, and if it's not right, I'll give it to the grandkids to draw on. Too bad we can't all be on the same standard!
